Armed robber fled scene of crime 'on a bike'

Gardai are investigating after a man escaped the scene of an armed robbery on a bike.

Today at around noon a man entered Celbridge District Credit Union and threatened staff with a weapon.

He left the scene with an undisclosed sum of money and departed, on a bike, in the direction of Castletown.

No injuries were reported during the incident and no arrests have been made.

Gardai in Celbrigde are investigating the incident.

It is the second armed robbery to take place in the town in recent days.

On January 3 a travel agents was targeted.

A man ran into the Freedom Travel shop on the town's main street at around 5pm and threatened the staff with the blade.

He then ordered them all into a back office and demanded to know where the safe was.

After clearing out the safe he then robbed the staff of their wallets and purses and fled on foot.
