Arlene's son was treated in Dublin for heart issue
DUP leader Arlene Foster has revealed her son was born with a heart condition and was treated at the cardiac unit of Crumlin Children's Hospital.
The former solicitor and mother-of-three veered off script at the inaugural Killarney Economic Conference to mention the Dublin hospital in her address.
Later she told the Sunday Independent: "I have a child with cardiac issues when he was born so I take a special interest in that and was very pleased to see the working relationship between Belfast and Dublin in relation to paediatric care.
"Obviously, if you have someone who has a cardiac issue, you watch it more carefully and I've been watching this with interest."
Prior to her address she held a private meeting with Fianna Fail leader, Micheal Martin, part of the panel that discussed the future of politics post-Brexit.
