Anger over shot of Canada's PM with black stuff
IT'S the marketing coup money can't buy, but the sight of yet another foreign leader with a pint of Guinness has sparked anger that Ireland is again being used to promote the black stuff.
Following in the footsteps of Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper was pictured with a pint at the Guinness Storehouse.
The Department of Foreign Affairs posted on its Twitter account a photo of Mr Harper raising a glass, with his finance minister Jim Flaherty tweeting "Slainte!" and saying they were enjoying "Irish hospitality".
Mr Harper was in Dublin prior to this week's G8 Summit in the North, which opens today.
The tweet prompted Fine Gael TD Regina Doherty to respond: "Is this REALLY the image of Ireland we want to promote??"
She added that it was a "real shame".
