AN Post has apologised after a 3-year-old girl had her letter to Santa returned – almost a month after sending it.
Publican Alan Campbell complained after his 8-year-old daughter found her little sister’s Santa letter when she came down the stairs one morning two weeks ago.
He said that his three children all posted letters to Santa on December 16th – and the return of one of them has raised awkward questions by his 8-year-old.
“She started asking questions as to why her sister’s letter didn’t make it to Lapland, and why her letter got there but the other one didn’t.
“Luckily for us we had visited Santa in Dundrum a few days before we posted the letter so he knew what they wanted, and that’s how Santa came. In that sense it’s all’s well that ends well.”
He said that after he complained on Twitter, An Post got in touch with him and said an investigation would be launched.
However, he has not heard anything from the company since.
In a statement, the company said it had helped Santa reply to 140,000 letters last year, and was disappointed to learn of the incident.
The company added it had twice offered to arrange for Santa to write a special letter to Mr Campbell’s daughter – however this offer was declined.
