Amateur golfers are on course to tackle the pros

Amateur golfers are to be given the chance to play with some of the world's finest players at this year's 3 Irish Open Pro-Am in Killarney, Co Kerry.

Tournament sponsors 3 yesterday announced details of this year's Pro-Am event which will take place on the eve of the 3 Irish Open over the August bank holiday weekend.

There will be four regional competitions in the coming months and the winning eight teams (men and women) will then get the chance to play with Europe's top golfers, including Padraig Harrington and Rory McIlroy, at the magnificent Killeen course in Killarney.

Clubs and players can register online at before March 31.
