All homeless children to get 25 hours free childcare
All homeless children will receive 25 hours free childcare per week and a daily free meal under a new Government plan.
Children's Minister Katherine Zappone has announced that all homeless children up to the age of five will receive 25 hours of free childcare per week.
The scheme will cost €8.25m, and includes a free meal each day for the children.
Katherine Zappone said: "In addition to assisting parents it is my hope that the steps we are taking will bring stability to the lives of the very youngest affected by the crisis".
"We will give them a place where they can play and learn in comfort and security - where they can form friendships and develop," she added.
Focus Ireland played a major part in advising the government on the scheme. It will focus on Dublin initially as the majority of homeless children are in the capital.
