Agent sells own home for ?4.4m

ESTATE agent Pat Gunne scored the second highest price at yesterday's Dublin house auctions when his detached house at 142 Merrion Road sold for more than ?4.4m.

He had been quoting an AMV of ?3.75m but when bidding went as high as ?4.4m, the house was sold afterwards for an undisclosed higher price. Meanwhile, a new record was scored in farm sales when Passhouse Farm, Cullenagh, Portlaoise sold for ?17.2m, or more than treble the AMV of ?5m.

Its sale for ?62,500 per acre is a record price this year for a farm of more than 100 acres with little property development potential. Higher prices of ?80,000 per acre were achieved for small lots of purely agricultural land earlier this year.

Yesterday's highest price of ?5.6m was achieved by Shandon, 16 St Johns Road, Sandymount, Dublin 4.

The agents Sherry FitzGerald quoted an AMV of ?3.5m for the five-bedroom, end-of-terrace property.
