Aengus O Snodaigh's son stabbed in home overnight
The son of Sinn Fein TD Aengus O Snodaigh is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in Dublin.
Gardai have launched an investigation after Fearghal O’Snodaigh (18) was stabbed in the arm in his home on the Old Naas Road in the early hours of this morning.
Sources say the victim was stabbed by another male who is well known to him.
The suspect’s whereabouts are unknown and investigating officers are seeking to question him.
Aengus O’Snodaigh, who is a TD for Dublin South Central, was out socialising with his wife when the incident occurred at around 12.30am.
The victim is believed to have phoned the emergency services after being stabbed in the upper arm. He is currently being treated in St Jame’s Hospital where his condition is said to be “serious but stable”.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams said he wasn't able to contact Aengus O'Snodaigh or his wife.
But he added: "This is a shocking time for the family. We wish young Fearghal well and we wish the family well.
"People who don't share our politics will be at one with us when we say that everybody hopes the young fella pulls through and gets better as quickly as possible."
