Ad watchdog reprimands the wrong firm
THE advertising watchdog issued an embarrassing apology yesterday after it targeted the wrong company as being responsible for a racy advert that drew complaints.
The Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland (ASAI) apologised to C&C Group -- the former owners of the drink brand Club Orange.
The reprimand was intended for the current owners, Britvic, which bought the brand from C&C in 2007. The ASAI upheld complaints over the billboard advert, which showed two large oranges under the headline "The best bits in the world".
