About the house, there's talk of Duncan for mayor

It's his baby, so John Gormley will be hoping for a good show in the Dublin mayoral election.

Although nobody is precisely clear on what exactly the mayor will do, the parties are said to be eyeing celebrity candidates for June's Clash for the Capital.

Mutterings from the Green Party think-in suggested architect, environmentalist and all-round do-gooder Duncan Stewart as their candidate.

Not that anyone mentioned it to Duncan, who was taken aback when told by this newspaper that his name was in the Greens' salad-mixer.

"Well, at least I know the city and I know what's involved," he said, quickly regaining his composure.

Hmmm. See you up a lamp post in June, Duncan?
