THE faces of the new Irish are featured on a collection of stamps issued by An Post to celebrate Ireland's integrated society.

The cover stars (above, clockwise from top left) include Garda Dongdong Zheng, originally from China and now a member of the force stationed at Swords garda station; Sammy Akorede from Nigeria, who is a Luas revenue protection officer; Polish national Anna Garciaz, who works in marketing with Permanent TSB; and hurling player Christian Tshibangu, a student at St Colmcille's SNS in Knocklyon, Dublin.

The collection of 60c stamps were created by design firm Atelier David Smith.

Launching the stamps, An Post pointed to the 2011 Census, which showed that almost 600,000 non-Irish nationals were now living in the country and that, since then, over 30,000 of these new Irish had been conferred with Irish citizenship.

"This influx of migrants has helped shape a more socially and culturally diverse society and along the way transformed Ireland into a more inclusive, multicultural nation," it added.

The stamps are available at Dublin's GPO, main post offices or at
