A cut above the rest: Steven (3) shaves his head for sick friend
A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy raised €850 for charity in a sponsored head shave after being moved to tears when his best friend lost his hair during cancer treatment.
Steven Smith, from Drogheda, Co Louth, had his second ever 'haircut' to raise the cash for Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, which treats his neighbour Matthew Campbell (3), who has leukaemia.
Steven's mum Laura said: "Steven and Matt live two doors from each other -- they are great friends. He really wanted to do this for Matthew and to raise money for the hospital that is caring for him. I am very proud of him."
Steven got his head shaved last Thursday in Bettystown Barbers as Matthew cheered him on.
And the boys are looking forward to a trip to Dublin together next week to present the money to the hospital.
