€7m Lotto shop delivers new win
MILLIONAIRE postman Pat Broderick's luck has rubbed off on one of his neighbours, who was celebrating last night after scooping €250,000 on the midweek Lotto.
The ticket, a €4 quickpick for the Lotto Plus 2 draw, was sold in the same shop in Kinsale, Co Cork, where father-of-four Pat won a life-changing €7m in March.
And although Pat (47) still plays the Lotto in Smith's SuperValu, it was confirmed yesterday that his lucky numbers had not come up a second time.
Sean O'Callaghan, the assistant manager of SuperValu, said: "There's a lot of speculation about who's won. But we know it's not Pat, because he always plays the same numbers and this was a quickpick.
"But it's brilliant news for the town. We're absolutely thrilled and can't quite believe we've sold two winning tickets since March.
"I hope the winner is local, because it will benefit everyone in the town."
Meanwhile, another lucky punter in Killucan, Co Westmeath, was also celebrating a €250,000 win in the same Lotto Plus 2 draw, after scooping the jackpot with a €4 quickpick at Smith's Gala.
A Lotto spokeswoman said: "The great news for both winners is that they each get the €250,000 jackpot. The jackpot isn't shared in the Plus draws, but it is in the main Lotto. Some people wrongly assume that if there are two winners in the Plus draws, their jackpot will be halved."
There was no winner of the Lotto Plus 1 draw or the main midweek Lotto, meaning tomorrow's jackpot will roll over to €5m.
