55% of voters in Seanad referendum confused by ballot paper
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has revealed more than half of voters in the Seanad referendum were confused by the ballot paper.
Mr Kenny also revealed there will be no rerun of the Seanad vote and any reforms would have to be carried out under existing legislation.
The Taoiseach met with leaders of the Seanad and the opposition parties in Government Buildings this morning to discuss options for Seanad reform.
The Referendum Commission conducted research following the referendum.
The report was presented to the Cabinet yesterday and will be published soon.
Mr Kenny said the report reveals a high level of confusion.
The research shows 55pc of voters were confused by the ballot paper in the referendum.
