€50m indoor city arena to create 200 jobs
ALMOST 200 jobs will be created after An Bord Pleanala granted planning permission for a €50m Cork concert centre to rival Dublin's O2 and Belfast's Odyssey.
The multi-purpose venue was proposed by developer Owen O'Callaghan for Albert Quay in Cork city centre.
Construction work is likely to commence in early 2014.
It will boast a 5,000-seat indoor arena, which can be expanded for major concerts to cater for 7,500 people both seated and standing.
The entire complex will be 100,000sq ft and, during construction, will create 300 jobs.
When operating, the complex will support 40 permanent jobs and 150 part-time jobs.
