40pc of small firms have no websites
TAOISEACH Enda Kenny yesterday launched a national campaign to get businesses with no websites operating online.
Mr Kenny said it was "deeply worrying" that 40pc of Irish small and medium businesses had no online presence.
A new partnership entitled 'Getting Irish Business Online' between Google, Blacknight Internet Solutions, An Post and the County and City Enterprise Boards is targeting these firms.
"Irish businesses need to be establishing themselves online now to get a foothold in the online market and to diversify their customers," Mr Kenny said at the launch of the initiative in Google's Dublin headquarters.
Businesses will be able to build a free website in less than 30 minutes and will be given a hosting domain name, which is free for one year.
