€400k in cash and firearm seized in operation targeting north Dublin crime gang
Gardaí have seized €400,000 in cash and a firearm as part of an operation targeting an organised crime gang in north Dublin.
Two men have also been arrested following separate raids while drugs and ammunition were also recovered.
Armed gardai raided a property last night in the Ballymun area, along with the local drugs unit and uniformed officers.
During the search of the house some €400,000 in cash was seized along with a pistol, ammunition and a small quantity of cocaine.
A man, aged in his 50s was arrested and is currently being held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act in a north Dublin garda station.
In a follow-up operation today, a second man was also arrested and is currently being held at a city garda station.
A garda spokesman said that the operation "is part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and distribution of controlled drugs in the Ballymun area of Dublin".
