34-year search for girl resumes

A SEARCH for the country's longest missing person resumed yesterday, this time at a location close to where the little girl disappeared almost 34 years ago.

Six-year-old Mary Boyle, from Kincasslagh, Co Donegal, vanished without a trace while visiting her grandparents in Cashelard, 5km north of Ballyshannon.

Despite extensive searches over the years, no trace of the missing schoolgirl has ever been found.

Yesterday, members of the Boyle family were assisted by gardai in a fresh dig of a bogland site 300 metres from where she had been last seen.

The dig was initiated on foot of new information from a Danish psychic hired by country singer Margo O'Donnell, a sister of Daniel, who is a friend of the family. Yan Sterns pinpointed the location where the dig should focus.

The dig will resume this morning at 10am. Speaking at the site, Mary's mother Ann Boyle said she just wanted to bring her daughter home.
