€260k seized by gardai in swoop as part of organised crime investigation

€260,000 in cash has been seized by gardai in two separate searches.

As part of an ongoing operation investigating organised criminal activity, Gardai stopped and searched two cars in the Blanchardstown area at around 9.30am yesterday morning.

During the course of the search officers found €160,000 in cash.

Two men, one in his 20s and the other in his 40s, were arrested at the scene and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

In a follow operation Gardai searched houses in Clonsilla and Neilstown and uncovered another €100,000 in cash in the house in Clonsilla.

A woman in her 30s was arrested and detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under the Criminal Justice Act.

The woman has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Both men remain in custody.
