240 families on waiting list to get new homes

ONE of the largest housing schemes to be completed this year will provide new homes for 240 families.

The €53m Avondale Park housing co-operative in Mulhuddart, Dublin, will provide homes to families on council housing lists. Some of the new homes, built by voluntary housing agency NABCO in partnership with Fingal County Council and the Department of the Environment, are already occupied.

The development includes a number of measures to promote energy efficiency and reduce bills, including a privately constructed array of 156 solar panels, the largest of its kind in Ireland.
