23-year-old woman critical after stabbing in Ennis

A 23 year old woman is fighting for her life after suffering multiple stab wounds in an attack in Ennis.

She was attacked at around 5.05pm this evening on the grounds of a primary school at Station Road close to the exit of a shopping centre car park.

She was rushed to the Midwestern Regional Hospital where her condition is described as life threatening.

A 22 year old female has been arrested and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Ennis Garda Station.

The scene has been sealed off and a technical examination is underway.

Gardai have appealed for anyone who was in the vicinity of Friar's Walk, Station Road, the shopping centre car park or the primary school at the time of the attack to contact them.
