€1m bonus added to Lotto jackpot

An extra €1m will be added to the Lotto jackpot for the bank holiday weekend -- bringing it to about €3.5m. There was no winner of the draw last night for a jackpot of €2m. The numbers were 5, 18, 30, 41, 44 and 45. The bonus was 37.

There was no winner of the top €350,000 prize in the LottoPlus1. The numbers were 2, 5, 15, 21, 34 and 37. The bonus was 35. There was no winner of the top €250,000 prize in the LottoPlus2. The numbers were 1, 2, 16, 25, 27 and 40. The bonus was 20.

O hAilpin to get freedom of Cork

ONE of Ireland's most celebrated hurlers is to be given the Freedom of Cork. Sean Og O hAilpin (33) is to be accorded Cork's highest honour in recognition of his contribution to local sporting and cultural life.

Lord Mayor Cllr Michael O'Connell said he had made a massive contribution to life in Cork as a hurler, footballer, ambassador and Irish speaker. The ceremony will take place in Cork City Hall on May 27.

Army experts destroy pipe bomb

AN Army bomb-disposal team yesterday made safe a viable pipe bomb found outside a shop. It was discovered in Glenshane Park, Tallaght, Co Dublin. Gardai sealed off the area and called in the army.

The bomb squad arrived shortly before 1am and neutralised the device with a controlled explosion. The scene was declared safe at about 2.30am. The remnants of the bomb were given to garda investigators for forensic examination.
