AN internet travel firm has blamed cash-flow problems for its closure with the loss of 14 Irish jobs.
MyGuideIreland -- based in Skibbereen, Co Cork, and Boston in the US -- confirmed it had ceased trading with the loss of 14 west Cork jobs.
The firm stressed that the closure should have minimal impact on current holidaymakers with less than 60 people likely to have their travel plans curtailed or altered.
The company has 500 people on holiday in Ireland and all will have their return travel plans honoured.
MyGuideIreland blamed the closure on the loss of key merchant account facilities which left it facing an impossible cash-flow situation. A liquidator is expected to be appointed to the firm this week.
Holidaymakers who booked to travel with the company over the coming months have been advised to contact their credit card provider.
The firm is operating a helpline for those concerned about bookings with details available at 1800 927313.
