€100m given to third-level building works

Five third-level colleges will share almost €100m for major building projects.

The new buildings will support up to 14,000 additional student places.

Education Minister Joe McHugh has announced the funding under the Government's Project Ireland 2040 initiative, which sees a total of €2.2bn committed to higher education infrastructure.

The successful projects are UCD's Future Campus Project (€25m), Maynooth University's Technology, Society and Innovation Building (€25m), UCC's Business School (€25m), NUI Galway Learning Commons Project (€15m) and IT Sligo's Extension to Central Campus Project.
