Governor's Ball Beauty

Nadia El Ferdaoussi

Festival season has kicked off and we've got the INSIDER scoop from NYC.

Governor's Ball has just drawn to a close, a three day music festival on an island in New York City.

Being the beauty junkie that I am, I obviously spent my time noting the differences between the hair and make up looks Stateside versus our own festivals in Ireland.

One of the major factors to note was that the sun shined all day every day and temperatures pushed 30 degrees, but the American women have a different approach when it comes to their festival beauty regime.

Not a false lash in sight, no streaky fake tan lines and hair extensions, well they just don't seem to exist there. Instead - faces were bare, maybe lips made a feature with a red stain or a simple slick of black liner on the eyes.

Hair mostly left down and flowing, the odd accessory thrown in for good measure.

For the men - simple SPF lip balm. (Scroll through our gallery to see the looks). So what's the reason for their more natural approach?

The girls all seemed to have the same answers."It's too hot to wear much make up", "I'll be wearing sunglasses all day anyway", "who wants to waste time getting ready?".

All very valid reasons and I for one am going to adopt this chilled out mind set. Do I think it's going to catch on back home?  Probably not, now where's that eyelash glue?
