Pedestrian killed in Dublin after traffic collision

A PEDESTRIAN in his 60s has been killed in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision on the Finglas Rd, Dublin, on Wednesday.

"Shortly after noon Gardaí attended the scene of a traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on the Finglas Rd, Dublin 11, inbound," a spokesman said.

"The pedestrian, a male in his 60s was fatally injured in the collision and was pronounced dead at scene. His body was taken to the Morgue Whitehall for postmortem.

"The road was closed to facilitate examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, it has since reopened. The male occupant of the car was not injured."

Gardaí in Finglas are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who travelled on the Finglas road between 11:45am and 12:15pm to contact Finglas Garda Station on 01-6667500 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
