Exposed: Ryan's secret boyband past

He entered both The Voice of Ireland and Britain's Got Talent.

But The Diary can reveal something else you didn't know about Loughshinny songwriter Ryan O'Shaughnessy, who is tipped to win the ITV show. He was once a member of the Irish boyband Mission 4.

Our picture shows the Former Fair City star with bandmates Marcus Gibbs, Kieran Doyle and Donal Haberlin, shortly after the band was formed at auditions in 2010.

They didn't exactly lack management either, with top industry pro Kim Glover -- the brains behind B*witched and New Kids On The Block -- looking after their interests.

However, it was not to be and the group split up a year after they had released their first single, Can't Stop.

"It really wasn't my thing," Ryan told me when I rang, then asked me to contact his UK PR.

Millions of viewers saw Ryan get a standing ovation from the audience of Britain's Got Talent at Blackpool's Winter Gardens last week.

It was a long way from the alcohol-free teenage disco at The Silken Thomas in Kildare town, where Mission 4 made their debut in 2010.
