Home bird Niall Horan receives Honorary Life Membership at Mullingar Golf Club
Golf enthusiast and international popstar Niall Horan added yet another string to his bow today when he was made Honorary Life member of his town's golf club.
The One Direction singer was home for Christmas this year and picked up the special honour at Mullingar Golf Club.
Niall, who originally hails from Mullingar, described the membership as "a nice touch".
"Thank you to everyone at mullingar golf club for making me an Honorary life member of the club! What a nice touch!" the star said.
"I've been a member of the club since I was 12/13 and to be awarded with this now is just incredible ! Really much appreciated!"
"Thanks for even thinking about me," he added.
The singer regularly plays golf and has been spotted on the green with footballers John Terry and Jamie Redknapp and rugby legend Brian O'Driscoll.
Two years ago, Niall helped to raise €50,000 for Irish Autism Action (IAA) when he hosted a golf day in Mullingar.
Teenage fans laid siege on the clubhouse and paparazzi chased Niall in his golf buggy in a fashion never seen before at the town's golf course.
