X FACTOR contestant Lucy Spraggan’s self penned audition song ‘last night’ has leaped up the Irish and UK iTunes charts.

She wowed the judges and audience on Saturday night’s audition show with her performance of the track about ‘beer fear’ – the worry that comes with waking up the morning after a night of heavy drinking.

The song has claimed into the top 10 of the Irish iTunes chart, placing at number 8 off the back of the performance.

Meanwhile it has jumped to number 3 in the UK chart, ahead of last year’s winners Little Mix, who released debut single 'wings' over the weekend.

Spraggan self-released the song ‘Last night’ on her album ‘Top room at the Zoo’ last year.

The 20 year old tweeted yesterday when the song sat at number 5: “Number 5. You lot are absolutely amazing. #beerfear.”

The X Factor returns to TV3 this Saturday evening.
