X Factor front runner and Tyrone schoolgirl, Janet Devlin's public success might not just be down to her one-off appearance at the audition stage.

Janet's last few days have probably been the most exhilarating of her young life, but the 16-year-old, from Gortin, has been boosting her chances of winning the competition with a series of living room performances on her own YouTube channel.

Her exhilarating crowd-pleasing cover of Elton John's classic ballad, Your Song has already received close to 1.2m views on YouTube since it was uploaded only last weekend.

But those wanting a peek into her early singing career have to look no further than the collection of covers online.

Looking a little less confident and slightly more self-conscious, Janet has tackled everything from recent hits such as Gnarls Barkley's Crazy to an old Bob Dylan folk classic.

The videos, uploaded earlier this year, show a breadth of singing talent and have ensured her newly acquired fans have enough material to keep themselves happy.

Sporting her natural curls and haunting vocals, Janet's YouTube channel has already received 1.6m views and boasts well over 20,000 subscribers.

Aside from her home recordings, earlier this year the pupil, from Drumragh Integrated School in Omagh, also took part in a school stars competition.

Following her performance on the opening weekend, she's emerged as an early favourite to win this year's series and although the competition remains at an early stage, the young singer is already favourite to win with odds of 9/2.

According to a spokeswoman for bookmakers, Paddy Power, Irish punters "love getting behind their own".

"She is by far the favourite - she has slipped from 7/2 as a result of the acts we saw after the last show.

"There were some great acts. Misha Bryan really brought down the house.

"But to have Janet as short as 9/2 this early on is great.

"Punters are just jumping on the bandwagon and she's very in vogue and ticks all the boxes."

Aside from those trying to cash in on Janet's rising stardom, the singer has also gathered a large celebrity following on Twitter, including Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Sara Cox.

What's on Janet's YouTube channel:

'Us' is a single from Regina

Spektor's UK compilation album, Mary Ann Meets The Gravediggers And Other Short Stories.

'Someone Like You' by Adele is from her second studio album, 21.

'Crazy' was the debut single from Gnarls Barkley and is taken from their 2006 debut album, St. Elsewhere.

'The Girl' is by City and Colour, the recording alias for Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green.
