We're wasting energy 'talking to Joe' -- expert
RTE WANTS you to "talk to Joe" but one expert believes his show is part of an "incredible amount of garbage" that's broadcast on national radio.
The strong attack was made yesterday by the director general of Engineers Ireland, the body which represents the engineering profession.
"Unfortunately, to get major decisions implemented in this country at the moment, you almost have to get it past the 'Joe Duffy Show'," said John Power.
Mr Power made it clear he is not happy with the standard of debate on such programmes.
Referring to the international investment by Shell in a gas field off Co Mayo, he remarked that "it took 16 years to get gas to shore while every other country did it in six".
He told a conference organised by the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals that Ireland needed an informed debate about energy.
