'We have leather and fishnet stockings' - Mario Rosenstock to mimic Jean Byrne
HE has ruffled feathers with his impression of All-Ireland winning coach Davy Fitzgerald and now mimic Mario Rosenstock is planning to include weather forecaster Jean Byrne to his line-up of characters.
There are three episodes yet to be filmed for season two of his RTE programme ‘The Mario Rosenstock Show’.
The 42-year-old comedian told the Irish Independent that he’s planning on introducing several new faces for the remainder of the production and Byrne, as well as her famously flamboyant wardrobe, will be among them.
“We’re doing a special take on the weather-lady and I get to wear some very, very exciting frocks,” the ‘Gift Grub’ star said.
“We have leather, fishnet stockings, suspenders, seams, all that sort of stuff.
“In one of the episodes we have Bear Grylls the adventurer too, who goes on the worst adventure of his life, to Copper Face Jacks.”
Dublin-based Rosenstock told this newspaper that negative reactions to his skits are “par for the course”, but that he does not let it worry him.
“I’m doing my job, I enjoy it,” he said.
He started impersonating Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald, who he has described as “a smurf version of Roy Keane”, on the radio three years ago.
Viewers have seen Rosenstock also channel Marty Morrissey, Francis Brennan, Pat Kenny, Miriam O’Callaghan and José Mourinho in the current series, which airs Monday nights at 9.30pm.
