Throwback on Republic of Telly - hit show to get 80s makeover
It will be a funky end to this series of Republic of Telly as the comedy show gets an 80s makeover.
The programme's stars, including radio hosts Jennifer Maguire and Bernard O'Shea, are reliving the decade by dedicating the final episode of the season to it, bad hairdos included.
The Republic of Telly cast spent the day getting to grips with leg warmers and shoulder pads as they filmed the fun-filled episode.
And new 2fm star Jennifer told the Herald that it was the perfect end to a long season double jobbing it on both shows.
"The whole episode is set in the 1980s from the telly bits to the sketches," she explained.
"I spent my whole day knee-deep in 80s gear so there was a lot of filming, but it was good fun."
The throwback show will include plenty of wisecracks about how Irish viewers enjoyed their TV in the 80s.
It will also feature an ode to new telly sensation Gogglebox, which features people sitting in their living rooms watching popular television shows.
After admitting her time as a reporter on the Republic of Telly could be coming to an end, it seems Jennifer is determined to go out on a high.
"We have loads of different elements to the final programme," said Jennifer, who is supporting the 21st annual Brennans Bloomsday Messenger Bike Rally in aid of the Irish Youth Foundation.
"Some of the guys are reviewing 80's telly so it's a lot like Gogglebox."
Early morning starts and long days filming for Republic of Telly, the 34-year-old admitted she is looking forward to the RTE2 sketch show wrapping up.
With more time on her hands, Jennifer will now turn her attention to her wedding this summer as she gets ready to marry long-term partner Lau Zamparelli at Castle Leslie in Monaghan.
The couple will celebrate with just 60 close friends and family over a long weekend, before jetting off to a romantic honeymoon in the Seychelles.
