The Soapbox: Secrets & Spoilers

Sheena McGinley

Self-destruct buttons, couples caught in the act, and the return of Peggy's hairpiece

EastEnders Wow, the powers that be are volleying the retired cast members at us with gusto. This week, Barbara Windsor's hairpiece bobs back into town to give Phil some 'ome troofs.

Meanwhile, Ronnie's Michael Jackson nose quivers with apprehension when she finds herself alone with Lexi, and Kat cops that she's standing in the way of Jean going to Brighton with Ollie.

coronation street No couple in soapland can be truly happy, therefore either Roy or Hayley were destined to get a terminal illness, 'cause neither of them were going to have an affair – or get pregnant.

Roy endures a birthday tinged with sadness as he knows it will be his last one with Hayley. Stella pushes the self-destruct button, but manages to glean some strength from Dev; convenient as ex-flame Jason tries it on with Eva (pictured).

Emmerdale Debbie's shocked when she gets a(nother) marriage proposal from the village's cut-price Robert Downey Jnr. We, however, are less shocked, as Cameron has but three stock sentences: "Will you marry me?", "It's not how it looks", and "Would you like a spin in the back of my van?"

We revisit the whole 'Alicia is still in love with David' storyline, Kerry introduces Kyle to her family, and Brenda decides to give Nikhil a call.

Fair city Poor Damo is riddled with guilt after his tryst with Caoimhe, so he decides to give her another whirl, which means someone is bound to walk in on them.

Paul and Leo find themselves in a battle for the factory, which is a bit redundant given it ends up on fire. In true soapland style, a number of people get trapped inside, which can only mean a disastrous rescue attempt is on the cards.

ros na run The people of 'Ros na Run' are riddled with the usual slew of questions: Will Rosie let her guard down? Is it bad news for Jason? And has Aine swallowed Frances's pills?
