Taut drama promises killer ending

Cold killer: Jamie Dornan in The Fall.

The five-part Belfast-set crime drama The Fall ends on RTÉ One tomorrow night and for the life of me I don't know how it's going to be resolved.

Satisfactorily, I hope, because it's held its nerve throughout four episodes that have had viewers in a constant state of unease. Perhaps there have been too many sequences parallelling the murderous activities of serial killer Jamie Dornan with the investigatory operations of policewoman Gillian Anderson, but both these performers have been terrific, while Belfast itself has been almost a third main character.

Certainly no one who's watched it up to now will want to miss tomorrow night's conclusion – though if that happens, it's repeated the following night on BBC Two, where you won't have to suffer through ad breaks.
