THEY will be going head to head over the coming months in a viewership battle, but Louis Walsh doesn't think there is any "real rivalry" between 'X Factor' and 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
A source told the Irish Independent that Walsh does not see the BBC1 programme as a threat to 'X Factor' ratings, as they attract a much older audience than Simon Cowell's ITV series: "No one under the age of 50 watches 'Strictly Come Dancing', so they have a completely different audience from 'The X Factor'."
But the launch of this year's dancing contest peaked at 9.8 million viewers in the UK, compared to 9.5 million for 'The X Factor'. The insider added that Walsh has been in regular contact with 'Strictly' contestant Nicky Byrne whom he managed for more than 15 years in Westlife.
"They've been texting a lot and Louis really wishes him well with it."
A host of big names, including Kimberley Walsh and Jerry Hall, are also taking part with Byrne.
