SILE Seoige is delighted UTV is setting up a television station in Ireland, as it means more work for freelance presenters like her.

The 33-year-old told the Irish Independent, the more competition the better.

"It's very exciting, and when I heard the news I thought, 'wow, this is brilliant for us' because it's a sign that things are picking up across the board," she said.

"Every industry has been impacted in the past few years and the media world has felt that as well.

"UTV setting up here is a great jump ahead and for me, personally, as a freelancer, it's great because it opens things up again, work wise."

Viewers will see Seoige return to television screens in February 2014, when her TG4 series 'GIG' airs.

She can also be seen in The Celebrity Charity Show, part of the Improv Festival, from November 10 to 17 in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. Tickets are available from www.improvfestireland.com.
