setting pulses racing for London
In the run-up to the Olympics, London Calling (RTÉ One) is a behind-the-scenes series featuring a dozen Irish athletes, all hopeful of qualifying for the big event.
This week's opening programme was mainly about married couple Robert (below) and Marian Heffernan -- he aiming to qualify for his fourth Olympics in walking competitions; she in her first-time bid as a 400-metre sprinter. Alas, she was one-hundredth of a second too slow, though he easily made the grade.
The film followed them as they tried to juggle child care with the demands of their respective sports and it was moderately agreeable to watch while never in danger of becoming riveting.
