RTE miss a beat without Lorraine

I thought RTE's new autumn schedule was missing one big star to set the pulses racing. Someone like Lorraine Keane. But that's Montrose's loss -- and ours, sadly.

The former TV3 presenter will keep her hand in for the meantime by hosting The Ultimate Girls Day Out on August 29, 30 and 31 at RDS. The likes of Margaret Nelson, Cathy Kelly, Melissa Hill, Lisa Murphy and May Frisby are expected. Pasta Fresca restaurateur May has just returned from two weeks in Marbella.

I can solve the mystery of where she got those wonderful gunas she was wearing in southern Spain. Her brother Michael's shop, Eve, on George's Street in Dun Laoghaire.

Lisa Murphy has also returned today from her hols -- this time in Egypt with Gerald Kean. The freshly tanned couple will attend the soiree of soirees this Wednesday at the Westbury Hotel: the launch by Peter Kelly (aka Franc from RTE's Brides of Franc) of a new bridal magazine with RSVP called Franc Wedding Secrets.

As for Gerald and Lisa's frank wedding secrets, the new ballroom at Gerald's mansion, Drayton Manor in Wicklow, is set for completion early next year so, who knows, maybe a Christmas engagement is on the cards?
