Rihanna's explicit X Factor message: Her shoes said f*** off
RAUNCHY pop star Rihanna looked as if she had toned down her image when she appeared on the X Factor - but a crude message scrawled on her shoes revealed otherwise.
The Bajan 23-year-old performed her number one single We Found Love while wearing a demure tartan pinafore dress with buttoned-up collar, and her hair tied in a bow.
But her punk-style shoes, daubed with scrawled writing, had the words "F*** Off" written on them.
Fan Lucy Morgan, 18, told The Sun: "It was cheeky. I was shocked."
An X Factor spokesman told the newspaper: "There were no close up shots of Rihanna's shoes. We believe the performance was suitable."
Her prim outfit at first made it seem that Rihanna had toned down her act last night after her appearance on the same show last December in a provocative costume left little to the imagination and led to thousands of complaints.
British Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom later cleared the X Factor for family audiences but in September set out new guidelines ordering that programmes shown before 9pm should not feature skimpy outfits or raunchy performances.
Earlier this year, Rihanna fell foul of a Northern Ireland farmer who objected to her "inappropriate" attire as she filmed the video for We Found Love in his field near Bangor, County Down.
Her expletive-daubed footwear is just the latest controversy to hit the X Factor, which recently booted out teenage contestant Frankie Cocozza over drugs. Viewer ratings have plunged.
Meanwhile, contestant Craig Colton, 23, was kicked off the show last night after the show after a public vote.
