A PERFORMANCE on the X Factor judge Gary Barlow branded the "performance of the series" has come under fire from users online after it emerged it was uncannily similar to a version by a YouTube singer.

James Arthur, one of the front runners to win the competition, performed an acoustic version of LMFAO’s ‘Sexy and I know it’ on Saturday’s live show.

However users soon took to Twitter and other online media to point out the similarities between the version and the version by YouTube singer ‘Only1Noah’, which has been online for five months.

The video on YouTube, in which Noah talks about how long it took him to arrange the song acoustically, has been viewed over 13.5m times.

Arthur received unanimous praise from the judging panel on Saturday for making the song “his own” – however YouTube users were outraged and placed comments under the original version online.

One said: “Please sue X Factor UK for using an "exact" copy of your interpretation/rendition of the song.”

Another said: “They all think that James is a magical Genius when actually all he did was what all other popular pop stars do and steal!”
