Olly Murs and Caroline Flack to return for X Factor spin-off
CAROLINE Flack and Olly Murs are to return as hosts of TV's X Factor spin-off.
The duo have been signed up for a further series of ITV2's The Xtra Factor after proving to be a successful double act in 2011.
Flack - who last year dated One Direction star Harry Styles - will cover the audition stage of the contest alone while chart star Murs tours the US.
However he will record items for the series and will be on screen for the live shows in the autumn.
Dermot O'Leary has already been confirmed as host of the main show.
Auditions begin in Liverpool tomorrow with Geri Halliwell standing in as a guest judge, and she is reported to be the preferred choice to become a permanent replacement for Kelly Rowland. Mel B has also been signed up for a guest role on the panel.
Flack said: "Even though Olly and I won't be reunited in person until the live shows we will be together all the way in spirit, he's bound to be calling me mid-interview to check what has been happening on the judges tour to ensure he doesn't miss out on any crucial gossip."
Murs said: "I know it's going to be a great year and we'll be grilling the judges and contestants more than ever before."
Halliwell said today she was looking forward to sharing her expertise on how to "make it globally" in the music world.
She said: "I'm incredibly excited and proud to join the X Factor in Liverpool and have the opportunity to find a new star. Those four seats are the hottest seats in Britain right now."
Halliwell - who will be at the city's Echo Arena - added: "I hope to share all my experience and the ups and the downs of how to make it globally in the music industry with the contestants and I'm really looking forward to having a blast with Gary, Tulisa and the lovely Louis."
An X Factor spokeswoman said: "It's great to have Geri on board for Liverpool.
"She was in one of the biggest girl groups in the world, she is full of energy and she can't wait to get started.
"She always has an opinion so it will be interesting to see what she makes of the talent in Liverpool."
