Louis Walsh fights for Cheryl to make an X Factor comeback - as she tweets a yawn
IT’S all change at the X Factor for 2012, but as Louis Walsh argues for Cheryl to make a comeback, she makes a plea to be let move on.
According to reports in a UK newspaper, the Irish judge is determined to get Cheryl Cole back on the X Factor UK.
“I want Cheryl back,” he said at the Brits after-party. “She’s a great judge and I miss her. I think the public feel the same.”
However, Cole took to her Twitter account this morning and appeared to knock the approach on it's head. "X Factor was a great experience and time in my life and career but is now part of my past," she tweeted.
The singer then added:.."Please #letsmoveonnow #newnewspls Zzzzz *yawns*"
Walsh also dropped more than a few hints that Kelly Rowland would not be coming back to the show in the summer when auditions resume.
Walsh said: “I’ll tell you who the panel will be. It will be Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa and perhaps Cheryl Cole.”
Simon Cowell had also hinted that he was open to Cheryl making a comeback. During a press conference for Britain’s Got Talent last month he said, “I regret what happened because Cheryl was a close friend. She could be a panellist again, if she wanted to – 100pc.”
Cole left the show after three years last spring to join Simon Cowell on the US version, but was sacked four days into filming.
The 28-year-old Geordie was unceremoniously dumped over allegations that an American audience couldn’t understand her strong accent. She was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger, who has been axed after the first season ended in the US.
Scherzinger and fellow judge Paula Abdul and presenter Steve Jones have all been told that they will not be returning for The X Factor 2012. Only judge LA Reid and Cowell have survived.
However the American press are speculating that Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas are being courted by Cowell for the new series. Cowell has denied rumours that he was making an offer in the region of $100 million to Beyonce to join the show. And judge LA Reid has denied that they were in talks with the late Whitney Houston to join the show.
“We love Whitney and we would have certainly considered it. There was an interest there but we never actually had meetings about it,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, celeb blogger Perez Hilton has uploaded an open letter to Simon Cowell on You Tube pleading for the job, citing his 4.5 million Twitter followers and his love of music as reasons why he is deserving the role.
American Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest is expected to take over the presenting role after Dermot O’Leary ruled out trying for the job again after being pipped last year by Steve Jones.
