Lady Gaga's nude underwear performance sparks hundreds of complaints
If the audience of Sunday night’s ‘X Factor’ were expecting a bonkers performance from Lady Gaga, she certainly didn’t disappoint.
However, the reality talent show received more than 200 complaints from the TV audience, as Gaga’s provocative performance of new singles ‘Venus’ and ‘Do What You Want’ were aired half an hour before the 9pm watershed.
The Queen of Pop wore flesh-coloured underwear as she writhed on top of the grand piano and crawled suggestively across the stage.
The singer surrounded herself by female dancers, all wearing similar bikinis. They danced in front of the backdrop of Botticelli’s masterpiece ‘Venus’.
Deemed tame by Gaga standards, the show’s audience were still angry enough to contact both UK media regulator Ofcom and the ITV channel bosses.
The performance was viewed by 10.2 million people.
ITV have defended the singer’s performance.
A spokesperson said, “We do not believe Lady Gaga’s performance was inappropriate for the family audience of the show, which has an established tradition of performance’s from the biggest music stars.
“She’s well known for her highly individual style,” they added.
