It’s so hard watching Transformation hopefuls in tears – Kathryn Thomas
DOCTOR Eva may be gone but Operation Transformation is still proving to be an emotional rollercoaster.
Last night, single mum Siobhan had a tete-a-tete with dietician Aoife Hearne.
Aoife reduced Siobhan to tears after she questioned her commitment to the programme despite Siobhan's weight loss of 8.5lbs.
And host Kathryn Thomas said witnessing contestants’ ups and downs doesn't get any easier with time.
“I do find it stressful when they don't meet their goals because I can see how hard they're working and know how difficult and incredibly frustrating it is,” she told the Herald.
Broken hearts and shattered dreams is something you’d think Kathryn Thomas is well used to given her role on The Voice of Ireland and Operation Transformation.
But Kathryn said she found Siobhan’s weigh in particularly difficult.
“It was particularly tough with Siobhan because she went from the high of exceeding her target weight loss and then the low of having Aoife tell her it wasn't good enough.
“She works incredibly hard, she's up every morning at 4.45am bringing the kids to school and going to work. She has so much to deal with and is trying so hard,” she said.
“And she and all the other contestants have that added pressure knowing the eyes of the nation are on you at all times. It's completely understandable why they get emotional and upset from times to time.
“We're just giving her the toolbox so she can find ways to improve her lifestyle and what she eats.”
Last night, Aoife told Siobhan she needed to up her game and commit fully to the lifestyle change.
“I don't want to rain on your parade. I didn't feel you grabbed it with the two hands the way I felt you should,” she said.
When Siobhan tried to defend herself she broke down before describing herself as a basket case.
The contestants were also put through their paces by coach Alan Quin in the Phoenix Park.
