'It's been fantastic' - John Murray speaks of his first few weeks back on the airwaves
JOHN Murray has said that he's delighted to be back on air, and that he was overwhelmed by the public's reaction after he spoke openly on his battle with depression.
"It's great," he said this morning.
"A few days before I came back I was thinking, 'oh God, I've to do it again after being out for so long', but it's been fantastic."
Murray was speaking at the unveiling of the 20 candidates who are hoping to be leaders on the popular RTE show 'Operation Transformation'.
John took leave from the airwaves in mid-April, and returned earlier this month.
In his first show back, he spoke movingly about the reason for his absence, a battle with depression.
He joked that he "better stay back", after he was inundated with messages of support.
"There were lovely letters and cards from people that appreciated I'm back."
Adding, that these messages "helped me through the tougher times."
Several people have reached out to Murray since, including his former colleague Pat Kenny, who sent him a message on his first day back to his Radio One show.
