FORMER Operation Transformation star Dr Eva Orsmond is taking up acting classes as she eyes up theatre work.

The diet and nutrition expert told this week’s RTE Guide that she would like to turn her hand to acting.

“I did a lot of theatre when I was young, so it’s one of those things that I said when I had more time I would like to go back to,” she said.

Eva left the hit RTE weight-loss series – fronted by Kathryn Thomas – last year and trying her hand at acting is top of her list for 2014.

“January and February were always months when I couldn’t do much between the clinics and the show, so now I can try more things,” she said.

Eva’s new book ‘10lb Diet’ is out now and contains more than 100 recipes.

The weight loss expert claims most people gain 10lbs over the holiday period – and this book will you shift the holiday pounds between three and 12 weeks.

Last year, the doctor caused controversy when she told Operation Transformation leader Charlotte to “cop on”.

She later apologised but the issue kept cropping up.

She announced she was leaving the series later during the year – and she claims she has no regrets about her decision.

When quizzed about what she thinks of her successors and if they’re doing a good job, she replied: “I’m not going to comment on other people’s work, they’re professionals and they know their job.

“But I’ve got a lot of messages, emails and Facebook comments from people saying they really miss me on it and it’s been really sweet.

“I’ve received a lot of love from the Irish public and that’s surprised me,” she said.

She stays in touch with host Kathryn Thomas, and expert Karl and Eddie.

Eva is hoping she will make a return to the small screen – but in another programme.

“I’m not finished with TV. I would love to do my own show. I’ve quite a few ideas, obviously based around weight-loss. I hope it’s something that will happen in the near future.

“But I needed this break and I need to step away from Operation Transformation. I’m the type of person that’s always looking ahead at the next thing.”
