Brian Ormond knew he was going to be axed from his RTE gameshow, the presenter has claimed.

The Dublin host said he was not surprised at the news that RTE is not bringing back summer programme the Big Money Game this year.

But the dad-of-two insisted he is still on good terms with the broadcaster and is in its plans for the future.

"They called me and told me what they were going to do," Ormond told the Herald.

"I think it's great that RTE are mixing things up, so let's see what they come up with. I'm on rotation with them, and I'm still working with the National Lottery," he explained.

"I've been told I'm definitely in the mix for their summer programme. So we'll just have to wait and see," added the Clondalkin native.

Ormond's wife, model Pippa O'Connor, said he was "not devastated" at the news that his summer gig has been put on ice as he is well aware of the precarious nature of the industry.

The 29-year-old got her own time to shine on the gameshow when she joined Brian as a co-host for one episode, and said she would jump at the chance to do more work with him.

"It's not like you're devastated -- it's the way TV goes," she told the Herald.

"They have to change things -- shows have to come to an end. He doesn't even know year to year what's happening -- nothing is set in stone."

Montrose bosses confirmed they aim to shake up the gameshow format with speculation the Winning Streak is to be over-hauled.
