Zach Snyder's big budget adaptation of Alan Moore's acclaimed graphic novel certainly has its spectacular moments, but its storyline is fairly confused and at over two-and-a-half-hours, its length may test your patience.
It's 1985, but a nightmarish alternative one, in which Richard Nixon has won a third term and is still President, and tensions with the Soviet Union have reached an all-time high. Back in the 1940s, superheroes protected the citizens of this alternate America, but Nixon has outlawed most of them, though he secretly uses a few for government purposes.
When one of these, a grizzled veteran known as The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, above) is brutally murdered, a lone vigilante superhero called Rorschach (Jackie Eale Haley) becomes convinced that someone is trying to kill off all the superheroes.
