'Fantastical, talk to you darling' - Aine Lawlor's on-air blooper

This was the endearing sign off from Morning Ireland's Aine Lawlor to her colleague Richard Downes at the end of a report today.

RTE’s Washington correspondent Richard Downes was on air to provide a short piece on the political turmoil in the US for the show.

The report had been pre-recorded before this morning's broadcast due to the difference in hours.

But there was a slip up somewhere in the editing suite.

And Aine's goodbye to her RTE colleague was included in the piece on air this morning.

Richard rounded off the report with the conclusion that there was no sign of President Barack Obama managing to bridge the divide between Republicans and Democrats on the issue of tax cuts.

At the end of the report Aine said: "Fantastical, thank you darling."

But Aine immediately laughed off the blooper to RTE listeners.

"You weren't supposed to hear the end of that. That was just me saying goodbye to my good friend and colleague Richard Downes who was reporting on the political gridlock and the latest crisis in the US," she said.
